Lignosulfonates are water-soluble, anionic compounds pulled from the wood pulp sulfite process. Naturally derived. Not synthesized from scratch. In cement, they work as water reducers and plasticizers. Here's how. They adsorb onto cement grains and carry a negative charge, which pushes particles apart instead of letting them clump. That frees up trapped water. Mix flows better. Cracking drops. Placeability holds up longer, even in hot weather or a long transit. And construction isn't the only place they show up. Animal feed pelletization, refractory bricks, dust control, agrochemical formulations, lignosulfonates work as binders and dispersants there too.
